Have you been In a place to make a decision for a parent? The child is now the 'adult' and takes the role of deciding for a parent. This happened to me with both of my parents. First, my dad asked if he could live with my family instead of staying in the plush senior home we had found him. Of course, we said Yes! Then my mom was having mini strokes and her doctor said she could not live alone. Again, my husband and I made the decision for mom to move in with us.
These are only a sample of decisions that a child now makes for his or her parent. This is the beginning of many more choices that will need to be made for the fragile, ailing parent.
